Description
This model answers the question of how personal knowledge can be conveyed or acquired. It includes four sections: socialization, externalization, combination, internalization.
Procedure
- Socialization (implicit to implicit): implicit knowledge is passed on to another through observe or imitate
- Externalization (implicit to explicit): implicit knowledge is attempted to be made explicit for another through description, analogies, etc
- Combination (explicit to explicit): explicit knowledge is passed on to others through verbal or written communication
- Internalization (explicit to implicit): generally available knowledge is transformed into selected, own knowledge
