also known as designing the product architecture

Activities

  • Activity 6: Designing the modules
  • Activity 7: Integrating the product as a whole

Description

The product structure corresponds to the physical structure of the product and, together with the functional structure, forms the product architecture. The respective determined solution carriers are assigned to the sub-functions in the form of components. These are then combined to form components, assemblies and finally the overall product.

Procedure

  1. Assignment of components to sub-functions
  2. Summarising compatible components into parts
  3. Organisation of components into assemblies up to the overall product
