Description

The provocation technique according to de Bono (also known as the headstand technique) is a creative approach to generating ideas for solutions. Desired facts (e.g. product characteristics) are turned into negatives and then thought about how these reversed facts can be achieved. Associations are awakened as to how the originally desired facts can be realised.

Procedure

  1. Collect desired facts (e.g. product characteristics)
  2. Reversing the desired facts into their undesired opposite
  3. Identify possibilities to achieve the undesired facts
  4. Reverse the identified possibilities and discuss the resulting associations
