Activities

  • Activity 1: Clarifying and itemising the problem or task

Description

A degree of freedom analysis can be carried out as part of change measures or during the further development of a product, the scope of consideration can be specifically expanded or narrowed down and thus increased understanding of the system. The scope for action and design of a development can be determined and the focus of the analysis can be concentrated on certain subsystems.

Procedure

  1. Determine the changeable components of the system
  2. Setting a system boundary around the area to be changed to define the space for searching for solution ideas
  3. Set the characteristics that can be changed
  4. Definition of the degrees of freedom existing within the system boundary
  5. Derivation of concrete problem formulations for the search for solution ideas
