Description
A decision table can represent complex decision logic if the decision situation is complex with many influences. It supports decision making.
Procedure
- A decision table basically consists of four elements or quadrants: Conditions describe possible states of objects, rules or condition indicators show combinations of condition values, actions indicate which activity is to be carried out depending on given rules, action indicators show the assignment of actions to the conditions to
- The conditions and actions are first entered into the table numbered
- Then you add condition indicators and depending on this you determine the action indicators
- If a condition is met, the condition indicator is ÔÇ£YÔÇØ (for yes); If a condition is not met, enter ÔÇ£NÔÇØ (for no). If it is indifferent or irrelevant whether a condition is fulfilled, then you use ÔÇ£-ÔÇØ.
- Executing an action depending on the fulfillment of a combination of conditions is marked by an ÔÇ£XÔÇØ.
- If the constellation of conditions in the current decision situation is known, the appropriate decision rule can be selected. The decision-making process comes to an end when the actions defined in the selected rule are carried out.
