Activities

  • Activity 1: Clarifying and itemising the problem or task

Description

Benchmarking helps to compare key metrics across different systems to evaluate performance. It aims to identify the best-in-class solutions for products or processes within the industry.

Procedure

  1. Set a goal (e.g. reducing product costs, increasing machine running time, reducing development errors, etc.)
  2. Determine benchmarking partner
  3. Determine comparison sizes
  4. Determine parameters and compare them in a suitable form (e.g. number of parts, weight, time required)
  5. Identify potential for improvement
